Apple Mac Video Game System.

would it be bad or good?

would you buy it?

Apple Mac Video Game System.
bad and no.Apple Mac Video Game System.
When the Wii was still called the Revolution, Apple and Nintendo were actively talking about combining their prowess to make a gaming console. It would basically have been a more powerful Wii with Apple TV functionality.

However both companies wanted a bit too much control, methinks. Pity, really.
The only way Apple could really get into gaming would be if they start buying up a couple other gaming companies. The fact they have not leads me to believe they don't plan to make a console system.
To be honest I dont think apple give a damn anyway. Valve have gone on record to say they want to make steam for macs, but everytime they get into talks with apple it breaks down.
that would be lame . it would have very over priced hardware . then you would have to download all ur games
Well Apple stands for quality in my book.
Maybe they could make something nice out of a gaming console.
If you think the PS3 cost alot at launch, you'll cry blood for a mac console. They sell a lapton with 80hdd and no dvd/cd drive for $1800. And this isn't some quad core behemoth, its the same core 2 duo thats like $800 in a pc laptop. LOL, they actually suggest that if you ever want to use something from a CD, you can buy another computer and use it at the same time.Haha, I can imagine them selling a console for like $999, only one controller port (if you have friends, they can bring theirs or you can just buy 2 consoles!!), and it'll brushed aluminum. But it will integrate with your iPod, so I guess that will justify the extra $400.
good and expensive
On their own not a chance, with one of the major companies maybe. Nintendo seems like the only viable option of the big three given they have no direct competition between each other for the most part unlike Sony and MS. Would be a great collaberation with Nintendo's hardware/softare knowledge and Apple's network and interface. Having iTunes/AppleTV in the next console would help Nintendo compete with XBL and PSN for content, and a DS/iPod hybrid would do well up against PSP2. Only problem is the businesses themselves being pretty different in how they approach the market, Nintendo is very conservative and plans everything out painstakingly over the long term, while Apple has a new version of just about everything every few months or so. There sure as hell wouldnt be a merger of any kind and neither company looks like they would play second fiddle to the other. One can dream though.

Apple and Nintendo are somewhat similar as far as business practices go, which is why a merger almost happened between the two companies, or at least a partnership.

If Apple does any sort of gaming in the near future, it'll be with the iPhone/iPod Touch. Games like Elite Beat Agents with any song in your library, with the touch screen? Thank you very much.

I would love to see a collaberation between them, it just makes too much sense given the strengths and weakness of either company. Nintendo could really benifit from having the Apple services at its desposal, especially next gen cause I get the feeling online infrastructures and downloable services are gonna be far more important and Nintendo isnt exactly building a foundation this gen in that respect, theyre only just figuring stuff out.
knowing apple and mac it would have the power of a wii with the price of an origional PS3
They shouldn't bring out a console(a 4th console is overkill) and the console fanbase would be too divided to get any lead for the apple console(MS, nintendo and sony are too established in the gaming circle). What they should do is bring out a handheld.
Apple would fail, and fail badly. Third party support would be terrible for an apple system, unless Apple changes the way they deal with other companies.

I'm not sure why 3rd parties would fail to support the console. Tha'ts half the reason the iPod is so successful. Anything Apple touches right now turns to gold, so I'm not sure why 3rd parties wouldn't want a piece of the action.

I would probably get one if they did, I really hate windows.

I have a load of Mac games. I'm not sure what you're saying. It was the only thing I really gamed on for the majority of my life.
