Resident Evil 5 coming in October?

According to rumors in the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, Capcom plans to release Resident Evil 5 before/during the holiday season of this year.

Now we would just say that this could be an April Fools Joke to get fans riled up; however, PSU has heard from our own sources that this is true. We were told that not only will Resident Evil 5 be in stores by the holidays, but could be on shelves as soon as October. Due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Resident Evil 5 is set ten years after the events of the original game, with players assuming control of former S.T.A.R.S Marksman, Chris Redfield. Now working for an organisation known as 'BSAA', Redfield is dispatched to investigate an isolated village in the African desert, where he soon discovers that the locals have become infected by an unknown plague or virus, turning them into relentless, malevolent killers. As with its predecessor, Resident Evil 5 uses an over-the-shoulder perspective to allow for precision aiming, and also incorporates the use of melee attacks, such as the ability to punch your opponent, knocking them to the ground. Wow... WOW!!! This is by far the greatest 2 consecutive years in gaming history. Non-believers shall be laughed at. Seriously, wow, RE5 being added to 2008's line-up? That's ridiculously awesome!

Hmm, a new variation of the T-Virus. I wonder how that'll work? I'm thinking it's a plague similar to (if not the) Plagas, but if it's a variation of it I wouldn't be surprised.

My bet is still on Condemned 2 being the best Survival-Horror this year.

hopefully the camera has improved somewhat...I thought shooting in RE4 was painfully slow and kniving was clunky...that being said...Capcom is really starting to do the same crap the movies did...we are playing with another gun totting elite agent again...people seem to forget RE was a survival horror franchise...capcom seems to have forgotten that now that they have us mowing down legions of unruley infected xP.
this is pure speculation but since he's part of an organization now, do you think they will have helicopter drops, agents, or a random supplier instead of the merchant. btw was this game built ground up or is capcom using that dmc engine

I can't wait to play it, I've never played the first one (other than the demo) and after hearing about the first game, it's got me hyped. Even the demo was creepy.

i wish. i love these games. they put so much time into each one, like 4 years. its friggin' rediculous.
