I mean it costs hard earned cash to go online when the PS3 Online costs nothing. Isn,t X-box live a rip-off!!

If your talking about simply go online and play then yes but if your talking about all the other stuff on live then that's up for debate
It's also much better then the PS3's online. Considering it's a paltry $50 a year, I'd say it's a fair deal.

What is on X-box Live that the PS3 Online doesn't have? What could possibly make me pay?

Before I had a 360, I didn't like the idea of paying for Live at all. Then I got the 360, and was just going to do the free silver membership - never intending to pay for the Gold to even try it. But it gave me a free month of Gold. Now I will happily pay only $50 a year for the Gold service. Once I used it, I realized that it really is worth it. Of course I would rather not have to pay, but $50 a year is not that much. So, I think once someone actually tries it out (and if they like to play online), then they will really have no complaint at all. I have not tried PS3's online, general concensus makes it sound like it is not as good as Live - but I have no experience with it. And I haven't actually bought an online Wii game yet. But I probally will soon (most likely Brawl), so I'll see how that works out. Not that I am really that into online play, but really Live is very nice.

As a longtime PC gamer I find the entire concept of LIVE repugnant.
