You can't handle hardcore!!

Alot of people break up games into 2 catogories, casual and hardcore. But very rarely do games fit into one of these groups absolutely, leaving the question of how to judge it.the efficiency of system wars can be drastically improved via a new grouping system involving 3 categories: casual, Normal, and Hardcore
1) Casual is for games that are entirely skill based. These include arcade games, or games like wii sports.2) Normal games are ones that require both skill and intelligence, such as Halo, Mario, 3) Hardcore games are games that require mainly intelligence, such as morrowind or Final Fantasy. This system is pretty fool proof. So what are your thoughts? You can't handle hardcore!!
That's what SHE said!You can't handle hardcore!!
How about you shed the useless labels and just call yourself a gamer?

lol you think FF is more hardcore than Mario?
its labels like this that make gamers seem like outcast to some people.a hardcore game imo would be a rts something where you need to have skill FF dosent need skill just alot of time spent levling up
That's what SHE said!
 best 1st post ive seen all day.

Eh? Casual =/= skill based... if anything, being a skill-based game (as opposed to luck-based) makes it hardcore.
FF hardcore, omg lol.Best joke thread ever.
I told them but they were all crazy!

Casual vs. hardcore is more a factor of difficulty than anything. All levels of gaming require both intelligence and skill, because without the knowledge of when to apply the skill and without the skill with which to apply the intelligence, you can't win either way.The difference is that hardcore games require either or both of the following:
 • Nonconventional thinking (this includes thinking ''big picture'' thinking, a key aspect of RTS's, as well as ''out of the box'' thinking you need to solve good puzzlers such as Portal).
 • Highly-developed skill (such as the rapid-but-accurate aiming that is key to games such as Counter Strike).

Nothing is more hardcore than chess, fool proof!
Casual VS hardcore is about how involved in the game the player is, or how ''pure'' the game is. Therefore games that are not hardcore are those about movies, sports, simulators, playing instruments, singing, cooking, table games, etc. Hardcore games are those that are created from scratch, from the hard core of games and a gamer will only know about them because he or she likes games, not because he or she likes a movie, sport, etc.
Nothing is more hardcore than chess, fool proof!
What about Go?

Nothing is more hardcore than chess, fool proof!
What about Go?
Didn't know about that game, but it is even more hardcore, great!

Unlike chess, AFAIK the computer hasn't been built (or can be) that can reliably play Go against a pro.
